29th January 2014

Dear All,

I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas and New Year period. It was good to see so many of our members, old and new, using the club over this festive period.

On this note, it is with pleasure to inform you that even though many of our local licensed premises had a poor Christmas and New Year, we had an extremely successful trading period. It is also with great pleasure to announce that last week was our most successful trading week in over five years. This was mainly due to last weekend and on this note I would like to thank Mark from our pool team for hosting an extremely busy pool presentation night. We in no way expected the massive attendance and were vastly understaffed for this event. However, with the help of various members, Kelly and Amy coped extremely well.

Please don’t forget our Canterbury Oast Quiz on Saturday night and I hope we will see many of you on the evening supporting this worthwhile charity. If you cannot make it we have raffle tickets on sale behind the bar, with all proceeds going directly to the charity.

Our next in house Quiz is on February 13th and I hope our momentum continues this year.

We will also be holding as monthly snooker tournament on the first Tuesday of every month and a table tennis tournament on the third Tuesday of every month.

I would like to thank all of you who have renewed your membership so promptly and remind our other members that renewals should be made by this coming Friday January 31st.

Finally, once again I would like to thank Kelly for her outstanding efforts throughout Christmas and January and all our other staff members for their hard work.

Message from the Canterbury Oast Trust

Hi Tony and Frank,
Just to say a massive "thank you" for your usual hospitality and superb donation at last night's quiz.
You must all have worked even harder than usual to have raised such a superb about and we are so grateful that you support Canterbury Oast Trust in this way.
£1,000 plus the £10, that someone gave us direct at the end, means that we will be able to complete the latest project (the bore hole as I mentioned last night) and we can start on a new project, to help all of the residents at COT, earlier than expected.
That now makes nearly £9,500 that you have so kindly donated since our first quiz there in October 2004.
I know that Angela Phipps, from COT, will be sending you a separate thank on behalf of the Trust and the residents, such as our Chris, for the latest donation.
Please pass on our sincere thanks to everyone at South Croydon Conservative Club.
Thank you all once again.
Kindest Regards,
Ken and Debbie Chappell

Thank You Message from the Chairman & Vice Chairman 2014

Dear Members,

I hope you all had an enjoyable summer. August was a slow time for the club, but we have many events coming up including our MacMillan Charity Day, Friday 26th September. We have already raised in excess of £200, most of this donated by our dedicated Quiz teams and we thank you all for your generous contributions. Should you wish to donate a raffle prize for this worthy charity or buy tickets, please see Kelly at the bar.

We are also pleased to announce that we are currently preparing the kitchen for reopening at the beginning of October. We will be doing theme nights and an OAP lunch on a weekly basis. Sunday lunches will also be available and further information will follow shortly.

I'd like to remind you of our monthly table tennis and snooker competitions. Please see our website or notice boards for specific dates.

Once again, thank you for your continued support.
